Short-term study abroad programs are offered over the summer, ideal for students with limited time and resources, but offer great language acquisition, cultural interaction and intellectual growth. Short-term programs offer students the opportunity to immerse themselves in aspects of another culture – the language, literature, history, art and archaeology – and have the experience of living abroad.

Title of summer program:Engaged/Exchange Online Learning “KU-EOL” Program Spring 2024

Program Overview – What is KU-EOL?
Originally launched in 2020, this program allows students outside of Japan to participate in selected courses offered by Kansai University online and free of charge. Students from partner universities are invited to apply and join their KU peers to take part in interactive online courses. Spring 2024 courses will take place between May and June (7 weeks) with lectures held once a week for 90 minutes.

The following courses are offered as KU-EOL courses in Spring 2024:

– Japanese Arts

– Critical Thinking for Social and Global Issues

– Methods of Comparative Analysis (ENG and JPN Communication)

– Contemporary Gender Studies

– KUGF Independent Study (Understanding Organization Culture)

– Communication in Japanese Society (JPN Corporate Culture)* This course is conducted fully in Japanese

*PLEASE NOTE: KU-EOL is NOT an “exchange study abroad” program. The “exchange” element of this program refers to student-to-student discussion and interaction which takes place in the online classroom setting.

About:

The program of the Korea Arctic Academy usually consists of lectures on Arctic issues, given by international or Korean experts, and field trips to Arctic-related organizations, research institutions, and industrial sites in Korea. The focus of lectures this year includes: 

  • Arctic Policy;
  • International Arctic Governance;
  • Korea Arctic Policy;
  • Climate Change in the Arctic;
  • Arctic Society and Indigenous Peoples;
  • Innovations in the Arctic;
  • and Arctic Sustainable Economy.

Courses will be provided as real-time online lectures and conferences to strengthen interactive communication between Korean and UArctic students. For students who will not be able to attend the real-time lectures due to the time difference, recorded lecture videos are provided.

And finally, 2 outstanding students from the course will be invited to (and provided grant funding for) the 2024 Arctic Partnership Week in Busan in December 2024. The Arctic Partnership Week has been organized annually since 2016. During its existence, the event has focused on Arctic policy, science, technology, shipping, energy, and resources.

To be eligible to apply:

  • The student should be registered in an Arctic State UArctic member institution
  • The student should have finished their second year of Bachelor’s study
  • The student is motivated to actively participate and to enhance understanding of the Arctic and Korea
